Do you know the impact of the materials used to make your T-Shirt or Sweatshirt?
Much is made about the positive environmental impacts of Organic Cotton and Recycled Polyester. We've put these materials side by side with Recycled Cotton so you can see the impact for yourself.
Organic Cotton has long been the benchmark for sustainability and due to the advertising power of Textile Exchange it is mostly viewed as the sustainable champion. Compared to Recycled Cotton though this illusion falls flat.
Where Recycled Cotton does fall short is in the cost. It is currently around 4 x more expensive to produce Recycled Cotton than Organic Cotton. The challenge therefore is to convince consumers that Recycled Cotton is worth the extra cost.
We have priced our own products made from Recycled Cotton at the same price point as brands using Organic Cotton. This means we only have a tiny margin however for consumers it removes any risk.
